"Create" ...Angel Food Cake

We finished off the Angel Food Cake today.  I promise you if you make this, which is not a hard cake to make, you will never buy or make a box mix again.  Here's the recipe.

Angel Food Cake
Makes 12 servings

1 3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 c. sifted cake flour
12 egg whites, room temp.
1/3 c. warm water
1/2 tsp almond extract, or extract of choice
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

In a food processor spin sugar about 2 min. until it is superfine. Sift half of the sugar with the salt and cake flour, setting the remaining sugar aside. In mixing bowl on low speed, blend egg whites, water, orange extract, and cream of tartar. After 2 min., beat at med. speed and slowly sift in the reserved sugar, beating until you have med. peaks. Sift enough of the flour mixture in to dust the top of the foam and fold in gently using rubber spatula. Continue until all the flour is mixed in. Carefully spoon into ungreased tube pan. Bake at 350 for 35 min. Check with wooden skewer (should come out dry). Cool upside down for at least 1 hour.

"Create" Family Memories

Spent last night and today with my kids and grandkids.  Loved it!!  Yesterday "created" homemade WW bread, homemade Angel Food Cake (So easy and so yummy), and crock-pot Chicken Fahita Burritos along with 3 fun Springlike cards.  Oh, how I'm ready for Spring!!

It reminds me that Spring will be here soon.  I love asparagus prepared any way, BUT...When you roast a vegetable, it takes on a whole new, wonderful flavor.

Roasted Asparagus
Makes 4 servings

2 bunch medium asparagus spears
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
Freshly ground black pepper
Grated parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 450. Gently bend spears and they will naturally break where the woody part begins. Discard end pieces.  Spread the spears in a single layer on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with the salt and pepper, and roll to coat thoroughly. Roast until lightly brown and tender, at 400 for 15-20 min, giving the pan a good shake about halfway through. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese the last couple of minutes.  Enjoy~

"Create"...My Cookbook!

I love cookbooks and trying new recipes.  I put all my recipes on my computer, printed them and put them in a binder, and finished it up today.  I decorated it this morning so I could take it to a class I'm teaching tonight.  I get to teach the 16-17 yr. olds at our church about meal planning and getting ready for college.  Should be fun...

I love teaching piano and sharing my love of music. It's not always pleasant but I love it anyway. I also totally finished my stamp project, bringing 5 boxes down to 2 organized ones. Yeah!!!!

My Daily "Create"

Okay, since my word for 2010 is "Create", maybe I should post something daily that I created.

I finished up my project of converting my wood mounted stamps to unmounted stamps. I threw away alot of wooden blocks - bulk. It gives me a lot more room for other craft stuff. Maybe I should go shopping. . .
